Icing Test at DES

Rain, freezing rain, and icing tests are conducted to evaluate a product's effectiveness to prevent penetration of water and ice internally, to verify operation during weather extremes and to check for degradation of performance.  Typical tests include MIL-STD-810 and RTCA/DO-160. DES uses special atomizing nozzles to simulate rain drops or misting nozzles with a pre-chiller to accumulate ice formation.
